|A note from the AFFTA Chair|
In the face of declining numbers for recreational fishing as a whole, fly fishing is a bright spot, growing and thriving, and attracting new and more diverse participants. So is your trade association.
AFFTA is working for its members to set new standards and innovate for the future of our industry and sport. Our newly adopted strategic plan will help guide us forward and keep us focused on the key issues our members told us they care most about: Trade Development and Stewardship.
AFFTA has a strong, respected voice at the state and national level on issues that are important to the health and well-being our industry – from taxes and trade to fisheries conservation.
We also help fly fishing businesses succeed by producing IFTD, the world’s largest fly fishing trade show, educating fly fishing professionals through educational seminars and events like Dealer Summit, and providing valuable member benefits like discounts on shipping, travel, liability insurance and more. And we give back by supporting those on the front lines doing work to conserve and protect our fisheries through the Fisheries Fund.
To our more than 1200 member businesses and fly fishing professionals – thank you. AFFTA is your trade association and your industry voice. The AFFTA Board and staff are committed to making AFFTA a more valuable trade association for all of you.
I'd like to extend a very special thanks to our elected board of directors, a diverse and representative cross-section of the industry, who volunteer their time and pay their own way to represent AFFTA members; and to our small awesome staff who make so much of what AFFTA accomplishes happen.
If you’re not yet an AFFTA member, we invite you to join us and get involved. We all have a stake in the future of our sport. Together we’re a powerful force that can sustainably grow the business and sport of fly fishing.
